Skill Requirements:

Education: Completion of high school, Some college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training

Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver’s licence

Experience: Will train

Languages: Speak English, Write English

Work Setting / Industry Experience: Private agency

Type of Work Experience: Animal control officer, Humane society inspector

Specific Skills: Advise on laws and regulations, Enforce municipal or provincial regulations, Investigate complaints, Issue warnings, citations and tickets, Attend and provide testimony in court, Report contraventions of laws and regulations to appropriate authorities, Handle specialized equipment related to specific by-laws such as weights and measures and animal control, Input and retrieve computer data, Prepare field and statistical reports, Perform related clerical duties

Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)

Security and Safety: Criminal record check, Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)

Work Site Environment: Outdoors, Wet/damp, Odours, Confined spaces

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s licence, Vehicle supplied by employer, Willing to travel, Willing to travel regularly

Essential Skills: Reading text, Document use, Numeracy, Writing, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use, Continuous learning

Other Information:Applicant must be able to provide a 3 years drivers abstract and 3 years of insurance history.
